CEBS appoints new Deputy Secretary General

Patrick Amis has been appointed to be Deputy Secretary General of the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS).

Since joining the Banque de France in 1995, Patrick Amis has worked in different areas of banking supervision, notably the on site inspection and the permanent supervision at the French Commission bancaire. His tasks involved the monitoring of several of the most internationally active French banking groups. He also was a representative of the Banque de France at the Fed New York in 2002-2003. Since 2004 and before joining CEBS, he has been head of accounting affairs in the French Commission bancaire, focusing on the implementation of IFRS in the banking system and chairing accounting working groups of CEBS and BCBS.

The Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) is composed of high level representatives from the banking supervisory authorities and central banks of the European Union. CEBS’s main tasks are to advise the Commission in the field of banking activities, to contribute to the consistent implementation of Community Directives and to the convergence of supervisory practices, and to enhance supervisory co-operation. The Committee is chaired by Ms Kerstin af Jochnick. The CEBS Secretariat is based in London. The Secretary General of the Committee is Mr. Arnoud Vossen.
