IWCFC organises industry round table on the review of the Financial Conglomerates Directive
On request of the European Commission, the Interim Working Committee on Financial Conglomerates (IWCFC) has undertaken a stocktake of existing national implementation practices of the Financial Conglomerates Directive (FCD) in the context of the review of this Directive.
The IWCFC will hold an industry hearing at CEBS’ office in London on
16th December 2008 from 13:00 to 15:30 to enable industry stakeholders to comment on the progress made by the IWCFC.

CEBS organises open workshop on valuation issues
The Committee of European Banking Supervisors CEBS organises an open workshop in London on 23 September 2008 from 14:00 to 16:30 to discuss the findings of the Report on Issues regarding the Valuation of Complex and Illiquid Financial Instruments published on 18 June 2008. This workshop will provide an opportunity for banks and other interested parties to express their views on the issues raised by CEBS and to discuss ways of addressing them.

CEBS, CESR and CEIOPS organize public hearing on M&A Guidelines
The Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS), the Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors (CEIOPS) and the Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) are organizing a public hearing on Guidelines for the prudential assessment of acquisitions and increase of holdings in the financial sector required by Directive 2007/44/EC. The public hearing is open to all interested parties and will take place on 19 September 2008 at CEBS premises in London.

CEBS organises public hearing on technical aspects of diversification
The Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) started public consultation on its proposed technical approach to understanding claims for diversification benefits arising from internal models used by supervised institutions for Pillar 2 purposes. The consultation runs until 31 October 2008 is open to all interested parties including supervised institutions and other market participants. The public hearing will take place on 8 September 2008 at CEBS’s premises in order to allow all interested parties to present their comments to CEBS.

CEBS and CESR organises second public hearing on commodities
The Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) and the Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) are organising a second public hearing on commodities on 4 September 2008 at the CEBS premises in London. The public consultation on the CESR/CEBS advice on Commodities closed on 1 August 2008. The responses have been be published on the CESR and CEBS websites

on this site.
The industry responses on the consultation are currently beeing analysed and considering possible/necessary revisions of the advice to the European Commission. As already indicated at the first public hearing on 7 July 2008 it is also planned to discuss the outcome of these considerations at the second public hearing. A revised version of the draft advice will be available a few days before this date.
Registrations should be received by Wednesday 27 August 2008.

On 15 May 2008 the Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) and the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) published their consultation paper (

CEBS organises public hearing on AML Fund Transfers
The three Level 3 Committees [the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS), the Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) and the Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions (CEIOPS)] - through the Anti Money Laundering Task Force (AMLTF) launch today their consultation on a common understanding in relation to the information on the payer of accompanying fund transfers to payment service providers of payees, arising out of the EU Regulation 1781/2006. Accordingly this paper, prepared by a joint 3L3 Anti Money Laundering Task Force, proposes some practical solutions in processing such messages, such as timeframes for seeking missing information, holding funds, reporting, and internal controls.
